Team Surrey Performance Sport Programme
Delivered by the Surrey Scorchers Pathway, the Team Surrey’s Performance Sport Programme is designed to maximise the potential of both the individual and team performance of our talented and hard-working student-athletes.
We provide comprehensive support packages tailored for high-level athletes enrolled at the University of Surrey. Our offerings include the Dual Career Programme (featuring dedicated support from a multidisciplinary team) and Sport Scholarship Awards (providing financial assistance of up to £6,000).
Guided by experienced staff with a track record of nurturing elite athletes, including successful professional basketball players, we offer a range of services such as coaching, nutrition, personal development, physiotherapy, psychology, and strength and conditioning.
Playing Opportunities
We actively facilitate opportunities for international travel and competition, with our flagship program being the British Basketball League professional team, the Surrey Scorchers. Selected Pathway players are afforded the chance to train and compete alongside the first team squad, with several pathway players making their debut in the British Basketball League during the 2023/24 season.
Our high-performance student athletes benefit from specialised workshops in sport psychology, nutrition, and personal development, as well as access to tailored Strength and Conditioning sessions, the Team Surrey Physiotherapy Clinic and the Elite Athlete Fund. They receive individualised programmes designed to enhance their athletic performance and overall well-being.
All basketball activities take place at the Surrey Sports Park, a premier sporting facility in Guildford and the training hub for the Surrey Scorchers. Situated on the Manor Park campus, the Surrey Sports Park embodies a commitment to performance, participation, and personal development. It has hosted training camps for national teams and international basketball prospects, boasting three elite-level basketball courts, physiotherapy and treatment rooms, sauna, swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness studio, and performance strength and conditioning suite.
